Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege releases October 13th, 2015

The name Rainbow Six has somewhat faded into obscurity in the video game world, particularly given the booming popularity of competing franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield, leaving Ubisoft without an entry in one of the biggest video game genres. Thankfully, it looks like Ubisoft is really to breach the first-person shooter market again with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege for which it released an extremely ominous and technical official trailer – check it out: Unlike Battlefield or Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege looks like it’s going to be relying much more on gadgets and team tactics to achieve objectives, which is a welcome change to the run-and-gun tactics that have become the norm in more recent shooters. Perhaps most interesting is that Ubisoft is committing to have Rainbow Six Siege released this October – October 13th to be exact, which means it will be going head-to-head with the ...

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer

The Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer sets the scene in 1868 London

Ubisoft has finally given us what we’ve all been asking for: an assassin in a top hat. Just me? Anyway, Ubisoft has today unveiled its latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, which has apparently done away with the oft-confusing numbering system again. The Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate debut trailer shows the protagonist, Jacob Frye, in London 1868 fighting for the working class, a Robin Hood of sorts. Check out the trailer below: Just from watching the trailer, Syndicate seems a little different than its predecessors, if not only for the inclusion of gadgets like the grappling hook. Only time will tell if its different enough to separate itself as a great game by itself or just another Assassin’s Creed game with a different skin. One thing that will be different is that you will spend part of the game playing as a woman, which is a nice change for ...

The Crew

Ubisoft delays The Crew to December 2nd, with good reason

The Crew is an open world racing game that is being developed by Ivory Tower and Ubisoft. Over the last few months there have been a series of closed betas for PC and is currently underway for PS4 and Xbox One. The Crew was scheduled for a release on November 11th, but after reviewing the feedback and game data, Ivory Tower and Ubisoft will be pushing back the launch by almost a month to December 2nd. “We received a lot of valuable information from the recent PC and console betas,” says Creative Director Julian Gerighty. “We are now scrutinizing all of the player feedback so we can ensure that The Crew delivers the seamless open-world experience that meets everyone’s high expectations.” Some of the things they are looking to resolve and change is the option to remove the HUD so you can see more of the landscape while driving around ...

Ubisoft is waiting to see how EA Access does before releasing its own subscription service

EA’s all-you-can-eat buffet service, EA Access, launched last week to generally tacit approval from the gaming community. The biggest question that hangs over it, particularly for its subscribers – which includes yours truly – is whether the service has the legs to make it as a decent subscription service. While it is certainly a good deal for the first year with 4 games available for $30 USD, whether this is still good value in one year’s time remains to be seen. One party that is cautiously watching EA Access’ success is Ubisoft, who says they won’t launch a similar service till they can see EA Access is being widely adopted by gamers. When Game Informer spoke with Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, he had this to say in relation to subscription services: “I think it makes the publisher more important in the player’s mind. Often, people are only interested in one brand from ...

Assassin's Creed Rogue

Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed Rogue, a last-gen console romp that questions your ‘Creed’

If there’s one thing that’s for sure, playing an Assassin’s Creed game will often require the killing of Templars, the Assassin’s sworn enemy. But what if an Assassin goes rogue? That’s the premise of Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Ubisoft‘s latest game in the franchise that will explore the line where an Assassin crosses over to the Templars. Check out the announcement trailer below: The protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be Shay, who in the trailer has hunted down a fellow Assassin to the Arctic Circle to kill him. The game appears to be set the closest to the present than any of the previous Assassin’s Creed games, partly evidenced by Shay’s shotgun, and the fact that Shay hails from the streets of New York where you will be able to traverse in the game. For those who have been wondering whether the franchise would ever touch the subject of converting over to the ...

beyond good and evil 2

Finally: Ubisoft confirms Beyond Good & Evil 2 is happening

Fans of the original Beyond Good & Evil game have waited patiently for the rumoured sequel for many years now, suffering through teased trailers and gameplay videos that threatened to be the only evidence that it ever existed. Truth be told, many of us relegated the sequel, assumed to be called Beyond Good & Evil 2, to the same pile as Half-life 3, never to see the light of day. Thankfully though, Ubisoft Montpellier has confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is indeed happening, although its designer, Michel Ancel, will have his work cut out for him after he recently founded an independant studio, Wild Sheep Studio. Managing Director Xavier Poix said: “In addition to spending some of his time on this new venture, Michel is leading the creative development of select projects at Ubisoft Montpellier, including an extremely ambitious new title that is very close to his and the team’s heart” Those ...

Assassin's Creed Experience

The Assassin’s Creed Experience at San Diego Comic-Con looks awesome (and really dangerous)

I’m sure many of us have picked up an Assassin’s Creed game and thought: “Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to do parkour like an Assassin?” Well, if you’re heading to San Diego Comic-Con next week, you might just get the chance to. Ubisoft is hosting the Assassin’s Creed Experience as part of its promotion for Assassin’s Creed Unity, and allows you the opportunity to run a course specifically designed to let you perform moves that Assassins do in the video games. Check out the video brief delivered by Ubisoft’s newly hired Chief Parkour Officer: The Assassin’s Creed Experience certainly looks like fun, though I can almost see it going horribly wrong for some people. While they may have “designed the course so anyone can run it”, I doubt Ubisoft will be providing medical insurance for the over-zealous people who felt like doing a running leap of faith. Then again, that might ...

Assassin's Creed Unity

Ubisoft releases new ‘Revolution’ gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is possibly one of the most defining game franchises of our generation and the next chapter in the story, Assassin’s Creed Unity, set to be released soon. Ubisoft has just yesterday released a new gameplay trailer titled ‘Revolution’, which helps set the setting in which you will be playing; Paris in 1973, right in the midst of the French Revolution. Check out the trailer below: The trailer features the new hero in Unity, Arno, who presumably fights on the side of the revolutionaries. It might be a bit early to say (though it did win 50 award nominations at E3), but Assassin’s Creed Unity looks like it has really been fine tuned; one thing I noticed from the trailer was the more fluid camera following Arno as he ran, rather than the stoic camera in past games (I will mention that I haven’t played an Assassin’s Creed game since Revelations, ...

Ubisoft The Crew Closed beta

Ubisoft’s “The Crew” taking sign-ups for closed PC beta testing, begins July 23rd

One of my personal pet peeves is waiting. I absolutely HATE waiting for a game that was demoed months, sometimes years, ago. Ubisoft showed off a new game that they were working on called “The Crew” back at E3 in 2013. They showed it off again this year also. The game is an open world racing style game loaded full of missions and vehicular carnage with core game play being centered around the crew that you create with your friends. Take a gander at a quick video of the gameplay in action that Ubisoft put up on June 10th. I have a feeling this could be a pretty spectacular game that racing fans will spend countless hours playing. I know I will give it some dedication. If you want to toss your name in the hat and see if you get picked for the closed (PC) beta testing, then head ...
