Day One patch for Evolve

3GB Day One patch for Evolve will improve loading times

One of my biggest gripes from my short time playing pre-release Evolve was the absolutely ridiculous loading times – as a good friend of mine puts it, Evolve has a loading screen, for its loading screen, for its loading screen. Thankfully, Turtle Rock Studios has been listening and will be releasing a Day One patch for Evolve which mainly deals with the matter of loading screens and should hopefully deal with the excessive tedium. Apart from that, the 3GB patch apparently deals with some bugs from the Alpha and Beta, adds some balancing between Hunters and Monsters and also adds compatibility with the mobile version of Evolve. While I was slightly adamant about Evolve after the Alpha, 2K and Turtle Rock have made giant strides to make the game more polished and content-filled, and I can’t wait to see reviews of the game start to roll in after February 10th. Are ...

Evolve Big Alpha Impressions on Xbox One

Evolve Big Alpha Impressions on Xbox One: Big on action, and big on loading screens

The Evolve Big Alpha was on earlier this week, the highly anticipated four-vs-one  shooter’s second alpha outing, this time spanning all supported consoles (though jury’s still out on whether PS4 players got their worth out of it all). Developer, Turtle Rock Studios, appears to be taking development slower after it was announced by Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games that Evolve would be delayed till February 2015 as opposed to releasing on its original release date of October 2014. Seeing as that original October release date has now passed us by, how did the Big Alpha stack up to everybody’s, and our, expectations? Now, we know many of you who are reading this will already be fans of Evolve already – you know the idea behind the four-vs-one gameplay  and how intense the gameplay can get – so won’t cover the basics of how the game works, instead just talking about the things we liked or disliked ...

Evolve Big Alpha extended for two more days, finally live on the PS4

The Evolve Big Alpha has been going on for the last three days, giving gamers a taste of what Evolve is going to play like in its final form, however if you’ve been trying to play on the PS4, you’ve so far been left high and dry due to a lack of PS4 support. Luckily, a PS4 firmware update has appeared which will finally allow you to take part along with the PC and Xbox One gamers. As a gesture of goodwill, 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios are extending the Evolve Big Alpha on all platforms until November 4th, 12PM PST, which should give even the PS4 players a decent feel of what the game is going to feel like in the future. This isn’t the first time the PS4’s firmware has caused some issues with Destiny suffering a similar fate in the days after its release. I’ve been ...

Take-Two announces Evolve will be delayed to February 2015

The end of 2014 has been shaping up to be a gaming-apalooza to be remembered; games like Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare threaten to rob us of family time when the Holidays come to pass. Unfortunately, though, one game will have to be scratched from that list. It has been announced that 2K Games and Turtle Rock‘s latest title Evolve will be delayed from its original October 2014 release to February 2015. This change was announced as part of Take-Two Interactive‘s financial report (Take-Two wholly owns the publisher of Evolve, 2K Games). While that’s certainly disappointing for many gamers, like myself, who have been madly obsessing over recently released gameplay footage, Take-Two President, Karl Slatoff gave a very sound reason for not releasing Evolve this year. They said they had: “primarily decided the title deserves and should have more time to be polished so it can reach its absolute optimal state before we release ...

Sign up to join the Evolve PC Alpha Now

I can’t tell you how excited I am for Turtle Rock‘s new game, Evolve. Actually, I could, but we would be here all day and I would probably make a lot of weird noises throughout. The premise of Evolve is a 4v1 competitive arena where the 4 is a team of hunters, and the 1 is a monster that is being hunted. As you can imagine, this makes for some very intense gameplay, and if you’re hoping to get an early taste of what this will look like, you can sign up to the Evolve PC Alpha now. To qualify for the Alpha, you need to meet these requirements (as per VG247): You live in North America You have a valid Steam account You can “support a large coordinated user test” You are willing to abide by a Game Demo Participant Agreement If you meet these criteria, all you need to ...

Day One patch for Evolve

Evolve cleans up, wins ‘Best of Show’ at E3 2014

This year’s E3 was widely considered one of the better ones in recent memory, with game line-ups for both next-gen consoles maturing nicely, and even the Wii-U chiming in with some inspired Nintendo magic. While the show was amazing overall, it wouldn’t be a games convention without awards to take home, and the votes of 29 media outlets for the E3 game awards are finally in. Taking home the most elusive of the prize, the ‘Best of Show’ at E3 2014 award, is Evolve, a fantastic looking title that is being developed by Turtle Rock, the same bunch who worked on cult favourite game, Left 4 Dead. In fact, Evolve managed to take home quite a few more awards, including ‘Best Console Game’, ‘Best Action Game’, and ‘Best Online Multiplayer’. That of course isn’t to take away the achievements of the other games featured in the awards, all of which you can check ...
