DroidBox T8 Mini Android TV Box Review

The DroidBOX T8 Mini is an Android powered TV Set top box running Android 5.1.1.  The device is one of many options available from the British company trying to compete with the saturation of Chinese Android TV boxes release over the last few years. DroidBOX have added plenty of nice features to make it stand out from the rest of the crowd and we’ll get into those in more detail in the full review below. One nice feature DroidBOX have included is the ability to handle some of the Android TV apps (the “lean back” TV versions) and even provide some of these via their own App Store.  To make things easier to navigate, DroidBOX developed their own custom launcher designed to work with a simple cursor based remote control.  Finally, the DroidBOX T8 Mini can dual-boot into an Openelec environment which is a custom version of Kodi 16.1 designed to ...

Google Project Fi Featured

Googles Project Fi Can be Awesome but it’s been a little Google-ized

Googles Project Fi – The Sign up Process I decided it was time to upgrade my phone.  The screen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a crack across the top corner and I’m getting pretty tired of the slowdowns I keep experiencing from the Samsung TouchWiz interface.  I love Android but I want a pure Android experience so I’ve decided to choose the Google Nexus brand of phones.  They are pure Android and the latest batch are some of the most powerful Android devices you can buy. In the process of choosing a Google Nexus device, I also decided that I’m going to give Googles Project Fi Cell Service a chance.  Project Fi, for those who don’t already know, is Googles own cell phone service that works in a slightly different and much more simplistic manner to other cellphone providers. Project Fi uses T-Mobile and Sprint networks for its mobile networks access.  ...

The Technomancer

New screenshots from The Technomancer explore the Red Planet

I’m already too excited about The Technomancer. In case you’re late to the party, The Technomancer is going to be a new sci-fi RPG, developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive. What is a Technomancer? Think “mage-warriors”, cybernetically augmented to take advantage of electrical-based powers. Some new screenshots from The Technomancer have been released recently which show concept art from an encounter on Mars. Check out the screenshots below: This is no doubt part of the main story where the Technomancer you assume the role of is completing his trial to become a full Technomancer. Entering into this “Old Dome” on Mars, you encounter looters and mutant creatures to see whether you are worthy to be a Technomancer. It sounds a melodramatic when I say it, but I’m still extremely excited to see where this goes – it’s not everyday that you see new game IP’s that bring fresh ideas ...

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords gets an update after 10 years

Some games get an update after a year or two, and that’s usually already a stretch. And it’s no small update either with high definition resolutions added to the list of video settings as well as Steam Workshop and console controller support. The full list of features is as follows: 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay Steam Cloud saves Native widescreen resolution support Resolution support up to 4K and 5K Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4, along with several others (check the system requirements for details) Steam Workshop support! Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3

Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3 is dropping in the next 24 hours

As you probably already know, I’ve been playing The Witcher 3. A lot. It’s definitely my favourite game of 2015 so far, and I’m predicting it might still be by the end of it (Fallout 4 verdict pending). That’s not to say that it hasn’t had its fair share of bugs – oh boy, are there bugs – but CD Projekt RED has been hard at work getting Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3 out the door. It seems your patience is about to pay off as CDPR community lead, Marcin Momot, announced that the new patch is going to be live within the next 24 hours. Patch 1.07 will be arriving on all platforms in the next 24h. Once it’s live everywhere, we will officially announce it. #TheWitcher — Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) July 17, 2015 Despite the small, incremental number change, Patch 1.07 actually changes a huge list of things ...

Stephen Colbert grills Neil deGrasse Tyson

Stephen Colbert grills Neil deGrasse Tyson about Pluto’s non-planet title

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock (a not-planet sized rock), you will have heard at least some of the chatter about the New Horizons probe sending back the first ever high definition pictures of Pluto. Of course, Pluto has most famously been demoted from planet status, and while seeing the Solar System’s outermost inhabitant isn’t anything short of amazing, The Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert had a different bone to pick, in particular with renowned TV scientist, Neil deGrasse Tyson, who played a part in Pluto’s demotion. The encounter is nothing short of hilarious – check it out: Hilarious, and remarkably informative. In case you missed it, New Horizons is going to be sending back its photos of Pluto and its surrounding “objects” over the next year or more, so the most landmark space discovery of our lifetimes (probably) is still a work in progress. Even so, it’s utterly mesmerizing ...

Patch 1.07 for The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 expansions estimated to be as big as The Witcher 2

I haven’t posted in awhile and there’s a semi-decent, not-really-good-at-all reason: I’ve been playing The Witcher 3. As you’ve no doubt read, it’s probably one of the current favourites to get Best RPG honours, if not Game of the Year, thanks to its immersive, nuanced story and side quests and simply the size of the game. As was announced with the game itself, The Witcher 3 is actually due to get even bigger, with two planned expansions to be released by CD Projekt RED. Talking to Game Reactor about the length of The Witcher 3 expansions, CD Projekt’s Konrad Tomaszkiewicz said: “The first expansion will be around 10 hours and the second expansion will be around 20 hours… and I think it’s possible that they will be bigger. “It’s always like this (that when we plan some time or hours, it’s twice or something like this), but I’m not promising anything right ...

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

First trailer drops for Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series

We were a little skeptical when we first heard about Minecraft: Story Mode – A Telltale Game Series – a marriage of this generation’s best video game story teller and this gaming era’s biggest time sink for gamers of all ages didn’t really seem like something that should’ve fitted together. Yet, after watching the very first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode unveiled at MineCon, I can safely say that I am very intrigued. Check out the trailer for yourself below: While this will be the first time in a long time that Telltale Games hasn’t used its signature animation in a video game, Minecraft: Story Mode still looks like it will use the same storytelling format of heavy cutscenes with player input where choice is needed. As to whether Minecraft: Story Mode fits into the Minecraft world as it is today, CEO of Telltale Games, Kevin Bruner says: “We’ve worked closely with the ...
