Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

Details drop about Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series

Telltale Games is a studio that has by now become synonymous with fantastic storytelling. Its gut-wrenchingly emotional The Walking Dead series showed that it could not only adapt TV show worlds to video games, but could tell masterful stories at the same time. So it’s no surprise that one of the world’s favourite TV shows, Game of Thrones, is getting the Telltale Games treatment, and we get our first details about the game today. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will be a six episode affair and will start with a episode titled “Iron from Ice“, focusing on the story of House Forrester who live at Ironrath, playing from five different perspectives of five different members of the House. The story will follow the events of The War of the Five Kings, and for those invested in the TV show, picks up its story somewhere at the end of Season ...

Battlefield 4 CTE

Battlefield 4 Premium Members on any Platform Can Access CTE on the PC

The Battlefield 4 CTE, Community Test Environment, is a location where EA and Dice are testing out various bug fixes, tweaks and even aspects of the next DLC, Final Stand. Previously the CTE was only available to Battlefield 4 Premium members who played on the PC. It would seem that it has changed recently to include all premium members across all platforms. There is a catch though, you still need a PC to get in and play on the test environment. With that being said, everyone who has a premium membership on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One can download and access the CTE on their PC without having to buy the PC version of the game too. Your PC does need to be powerful enough to do some gaming on though. The process is pretty simple. Head over to the cte.battlelog.com/bf4/ webpage, login with your Origin ...

Dragon Ball Xenoverse

Called it: Dragon Ball Xenoverse will let you customize your very own Dragon Ball Z character

In June this year, a series of screenshots from Bandai Namco‘s latest Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, were released into the wild and they seemed to focus on a character not featured in any of the Dragon Ball lore. With Bandai Namco saying that Xenoverse was going to “rewrite DRAGON BALL history as we know it”, much of the speculation suggested a new character was about to be introduced into the anime universe. My opinion was slightly different as it seemed the unknown character bore hallmarks from several different characters in the Dragon Ball universe, suggesting that Xenoverse was going to introduce instead customizable characters. That theory has now been confirmed at the Tokyo Game Show after Masahiro Kashino of developer Dimps Corporation spoke about the game.  The premise for Dragon Ball Xenoverse is that the history of Dragon Ball has been altered – in Goku and Piccolo’s battle with Raditz, Piccolo’s ...

Destiny parody Twitter accounts

Destiny parody Twitter accounts make light of the game’s frustrations

Destiny has been out now for just over a week – that might seem like weeks for some – and plenty of players have already voiced their varied opinions. I’ll save my opinions for my review, but there appears to be a common point of frustration among most players centred around equipment and engrams after you reach level 20. As many of you know, once you reach the game’s ‘soft’ level cap of 20, you can increase your level further by acquiring more powerful gear with the “Light” attribute, a process which has turned out to be particularly gruelling, no matter the approach you take. Of course, there are some in the community who have a sense of humour about all of this, and have started their own Destiny parody Twitter accounts to give everyone a bit of a chuckle. One of those is the @LegendaryEngram account, which assumes the persona of ...

Bungie outlines Destiny content to come over the next two months

Bungie weren’t kidding when they said full reviews for Destiny in the first few weeks weren’t going encompass all that Destiny has to offer. As part of their plan to make Destiny a constantly rich and replenishing game, Bungie has outlined the Destiny content that is going to be coming in the next two months, with some of the events starting as soon as this weekend. The events include Crucible events, the start of raids in Destiny as well as teasing what looks like more Crucible events and some additional story events to round out September. October is going to see another Iron Banner event, which some people would have experienced during the Beta. Check out the full infographic Bungie posted: Community manager, Deej, also mentions that new vendors will arrive at the Tower to sell you different gear, and that there will new bounties that sound ominously unobtainable. As expected ...

5 things House of Wolves changed in Destiny

Bravo, Destiny: You’ve put the ‘game’ back in ‘gamers’

There’s something to be said about current video game culture. Without getting into the nasty controversial stuff, gamers have become increasingly reliant on game reviews to help direct their decisions and perceptions of games. Bungie‘s highly anticipated massively-multiplayer-online-shooter-thingy, Destiny, opened its doors to the masses today, and did so without even one game review to its name. Sure it was a risky plan, but I’d say its paid off. As someone who regularly reviews games, I often find myself nitpicking different things about games, whether it be graphics, story, or just general peeves. What happens is that I generally enjoy games less, and that’s not even because it’s my job – it’s more the fact having to analyse the game takes some of the fun out of it. And similarly, I think game reviews do that for general gamers as well, which can somewhat detract from the full game experience ...

Xbox can't advertise Destiny

Clever, backhanded ad points out Xbox can’t advertise Destiny

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have heard that this year’s (or any year’s) biggest game release, Destiny, is about to happen on September 9th (only 1 day and 12 hours left!!!). You might have noticed, however, that despite the game coming out on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4, advertisements everywhere have centred pretty heavily on the Sony consoles’ release, with Xbox ads almost non-existent. As we know, Bungie and Sony have cosied up closely for this release with exclusive PS4 console and game bundles, leaving Microsoft’s console out in the rain. So close is that relationship that Xbox can’t advertise Destiny at all, a point it hilariously pointed out in some ads in the U.K. this week (see above). Xbox U.K. this week posted a series of advertisements promoting a new perfume called “Destiny“. Of course, there is no perfume, but presumably the opportunity to ...

skate 3

The Power of YouTube: Skate 3 gets a second lease on life thanks to PewDiePie

“Skate 3?” I hear you say. “Why are we talking about a four year old game?” Well, we’re talking about it because this game is currently sitting in 20th position on the UK game sales charts – there is no other game nearly as old in the Top 40. Not surprised yet? EA has actually ordered more copies of Skate 3 to be reprinted to keep up with this newdemand. But what’s the cause of all this commotion around what is ultimately a good, but buggy, skating game? The answer is PewDiePie. Gaming’s YouTube royalty, PewDiePie, is one of countless YouTubers who have made videos of themselves playing Skate 3, a game which isn’t inherently interesting (sorry skating fans!) but is made all the more entertaining by unusual glitches and bugs. For a better idea of why this is so interesting, check out PewDiePie’s Skate 3 video below which has some 12 million ...

New NBA 2K15 trailer coins the term ‘Yakkem’

The NBA 2K series has stood head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to basketball simulation games for years now and their annual offering, NBA 2K15, is about to release, looking pretty snazzy in its first full trailer. Check it out below: Showing snippets of ESPN favourites, Ernie Johnson and the original Superman, Shaquille O’Neal, the video also delves into some delicious looking gameplay with character models bordering on uncanny. Whether the dynamic duo will feature just in pre- and post-game analyses of the game, or throughout it as well, remains to be seen. The game also focuses much of its snippets on cover athlete, last year’s MVP, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA 2K series goes through intense scrutiny every year, partly because they are so far ahead of their direct competitor, the NBA Live series by EA Sports, and partly because the game is already ...

Destiny Launch gameplay trailer

The official Destiny Launch gameplay trailer takes off, makes the wait to release a little less painful

If there’s anything that was widely felt after the Destiny Beta, it was that the official release of the game on September 9th was much too far away. Now that the game is only 16 days, 8 hours and 55 minutes away (not that I’m counting), Bungie and Activision have decided to satiate our hunger for the game a little more by releasing the official Destiny Launch gameplay trailer. Check it out below: Quite a lot of the gameplay clips we’ve spotted at one time or another in some of the other Destiny trailers – as well as many of the press quotes – but for many of the faithful, they could have made a trailer made of completely re-used clips and we would still be happy. The one thing that this trailer does do is pull together all the bits of the game that they have been teasing separately for some time ...
