Xbox Games with Gold

Happy New Year: January’s Xbox Games with Gold have been announced

Not one to skip a beat, even with the Holiday Season around, Microsoft has announced January’s Xbox Games with Gold. For those who haven’t heard, Microsoft offers free games to Xbox Live Gold subscribers every month, with the last few months netting Xbox One owners one game every month, and Xbox 360 owners double that. We’re getting the same arrangement this month, with the Xbox One’s title being Access Games’ D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, and the Xbox 360 getting both MX vs ATV Alive and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. D4 will be available for the whole month for Xbox One owners, and follows the story of David Young as he tries to figure out the details of his wife’s murder through his use of (somewhat) disjointed time travel abilities. Xbox 360 owners have MX vs ATV to look forward to in the first half of the month ...

The Beginners List of Drone / Quadcopter Manufacturers

Polk Audio Striker ZX Xbox One Gaming Headset Review

Polk Audio Striker Zx Xbox One Gaming Headset Review: Just how good is Polk’s entry level headset?

Polk Audio isn’t the biggest name in gaming audio yet, but they’re trying their hardest to make the big time. Their latest crusade is being led by the Polk Audio Striker Zx, an entry-level gaming headset for the Xbox One that sits squarely at the bottom of their food chain, superceded only by Polk’s more expensive offering, the 4 Shot. Decked with bright coloured plastic, the Striker Zx looks every part the basic gamer’s headset, but is there more than meets the eye? Let’s check it out.           What’s in the box In the box, you’ll find the headset itself, a micro-USB which can be used to help update your controller when you first plug in your headset, and the Xbox One headset adapter which will enable stereo sound and headset capabilities for your Striker Zx. It’s pretty bare bones, and for $89.95 USD, it probably should ...

Earth timelapses

Alexander Gerst’s Earth timelapses taken from the ISS are absolutely breathtaking

Sometimes with all this talk of conflict and turmoil, we forget what a beautiful place we live in. To illustrate exactly how beautiful, astronaut Alexander Gerst has compiled the 12,500 photos he took while aboard the International Space Station (ISS) into a series of Earth timelapses, and the results are… well, take a look for yourself (oh, and make sure to take a look in 4K resolution): Capturing multiple aurora events, and passing over tumultuous weather and cities during the night, the Earth looks just as beautiful as the space and galaxies it sits amongst. It’s breathtaking to watch, and it’s all thanks to Gerst’s camera work while on the ISS, setting up his cameras to take photos at regular intervals to create these timelapses. Thankfully though, Gerst is now safely back on solid ground, where it’s arguably the most beautiful. What do you think of these Earth timelapses? Let ...

iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola

Why, oh why: iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola, because reasons

Destroying technology is a pretty depressing topic to discuss. You may remember that we got pretty riled up when the #BendGate saga started to go too far with people pointlessly destroying their Apple products (iPads included) just to prove that they did bend, and we may have caught wind of a similarly pointless destruction of an iPhone 6. The video in question shows what happens when a iPhone 6 gets boiled in Coca Cola, courtesy of Ukranian YouTuber, TechRax, who nonchalantly places a “brand new” iPhone 6 into a bubbling pan of Coke. Take a look at the video below if you can stomach it (excuse the horrible, horrible pun): Unsurprisingly, the iPhone 6 is completely destroyed in the process of essentially cooking it. Now, we’re not having a go at YouTubers like TechRax for doing these allegedly ‘extreme’ torture tests. In fact, some of them can have surprisingly enlightening, if ...

High Altitude Venus Operational Concept

NASA’s High Altitude Venus Operational Concept will hopefully make Venus more explorable and habitable

A lot is made in the space community about travelling to the little red planet known as Mars, but what about our other closest neighbour, Venus. Well, a few facts about Venus that have generally made it difficult to explore include the fact that it is the hottest planet in the solar system (that’s right, it’s not Mercury) at a toasty average surface temperature of 462 °C, and the fact that its atmosphere pressure is 92 times than that of Earth’s atmosphere, which would make arriving on the planet like diving into the deepest deep sea trench on Earth. That’s where the High Altitude Venus Operational Concept comes in. The High Altitude Venus Operational Concept, or HAVOC for short, is NASA‘s attempt at imagining how it might be possible to visit the planet and carry two astronauts closer to Venus’ surface than we’ve ever managed. It’s obviously comparable to a traditional blimp, but ...

X PlusOne Title

X PlusOne Ariel Drone is Vertical Hovering and X-Wing Horizontal Speed King that goes 60 mph

The world is going drone crazy and every man and his dog is coming out with the next best Quadcopter. With companies such as Google working on their own projects and Amazon talking about using drones as a delivery mechanism, It’s understandable why. There’s a new guy on the block called xCraft who have come up with a pretty cool looking Quadcopter that also acts a high speed forwarding flying X-Wing type vehicle.  Think X-Wings in Starwars. The X PlusOne as it’s called, is now on Kickstarter and they are hoping to raise $50,000 to bring the X PlusOne to market. The X PlusOne is a revolutionary hybrid drone that combines the ability for both stabilized hover and remarkably fast forward flight that could be used to perform high speed flyovers for some fairly dramatic video footage. At its core the X PlusOne is a revolutionary hybrid.  It combines multi-rotor ...

Halo 3: ODST

Microsoft is remastering Halo 3: ODST to apologize for poor Master Chief Collection experience

To say that the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One has been a bumpy ride for Microsoft and 343 Industries would be an severe understatement. While it’s no Assassin’s Creed Unity, the Master Chief Collection owners have had to suffer through almost a month and a half of broken and unreliable multiplayer, which is decidedly unacceptable for a game that has swung many away from the Xbox’s greatest rival, the PS4. Clearly, both developer and publisher are truly sorry, with Bonnie Rose, head of 343 Industries, saying that the Master Chief Collection’s dismal showing has been “a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can — and need — to do better for Xbox fans around the world.” To help make amends, Microsoft and 343 Industries have something in store for those who have already invested in the game. For those who have played the ...

Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Game Series

Telltale Games is making Minecraft: Story Mode, because we needed more reasons to play Minecraft

Yesterday was chock full of games news, but one headline that caught my eye was the announcement that Telltale Games is making Minecraft: Story Mode in conjunction with Minecraft‘s creators, Mojang. Of course, if you haven’t heard of Telltale Games yet, they’re widely considered to be one of the premiere developers of story driven video games, so it’s at the very least interesting to hear that Telltale is picking up a project for a game that essentially has no story or lore (meta game doesn’t count as story). Telltale has made their name most recently by creating stories within the worlds of well-established universes – Back to the Future, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, just to name a few. Minecraft: Story Mode is said to explore the world of Minecraft but won’t directly involve the game’s existing “protagonist”, Steve, or really involve the world of Minecraft or its background. Furthermore, Minecraft: Story Mode ...

343 Industries releases Halo 5 Guardians Multiplayer Beta Trailer

With the multiplayer  of Halo: The Master Chief Collection in a constant state of flux, the attention of many Xbox One gamers has already turned to the next game in the Halo franchise, Halo 5 Guardians. To facilitate this, 343 Industries has released its Halo 5 Guardians Multiplayer Beta Trailer, which with the help of Will Arnett’s silky, mellow voice, highlights some gameplay from the upcoming Beta. Check it out below – and do yourself a favour: change the video quality to watch the video at 60FPS at 1080p: Halo 5 has obviously made great strides to look great on the Xbox One’s hardware and the frantic and frankly brutal multiplayer combat looks ripe for combatants when the Multiplayer Beta goes live on December 29th. The Beta will go for three weeks and includes an assortment of maps, weapons and modes to give gamers a taste of what’s the come when the game ...
